If you lust after shoes like I do, then you may already know about Catwalk Boutique. This
fabulous boutique is the destination for shoes and accessories in downtown Kingston.
This is why I was so thrilled when boutique owner, Joanne Angelis approached me to update
the store’s logo. Joanne and her sister Maria have recently merged their three boutiques,
Catwalk, Cybil Scott, and Coquetta under a new brand: the House of Angelis. (I designed
the House of Angelis brand and website too, so there will be more to come on this!) Joanne
and Maria were looking to align Catwalk’s look with the sister stores and we accomplished
this by updating with a fresh colour palette, creating an elegant heal graphic and by adopting
a soft, clean type style.
Now you can see the new look at the store’s new home, right next to Cybil Scott at 65 Brock St.
The new store is really stunning and there are lots of amazing jewels, shoes, and bags to tempt
you. (Or to put on a holiday wish list to tempt someone else!) Hope you enjoy this peek at
Catwalk’s new look. Have a great day!

With November on the horizon, it’s time to start thinking about holiday parties! (If you haven’t
been already.) Holiday is one of my favourite fashion seasons with its lush textures and
dramatic design. It’s also a fantastic excuse to wear sequins and sparkles. This season, I’m
focused on my feet and can’t wait to shop for new glittery shoes. Here are a couple of my
illustrated picks from Stuart Weitzman and Jimmy Choo. Have a great weekend!

I’m very excited to announce that my work is being shown at one of my favourite
restaurants, Sima Sushi in downtown Kingston. The show will be up until January and
features some of my most recent work, including the “Summer’s End” painting shown
above. Sima is located between at 66 Princess St., between Wellington and King. The
food is fantastic and well worth a visit. Have a great day!

I have just wrapped up an amazing week, taking in the shows at LG Fashion Week with good
friend and owner/buyer for Bicyclette Boutique, Paige Boersma. There’s a lot to look
forward to in Spring 2012. Some of my favourites are the sleek silhouettes, sheer fabrics,
polka dots and more stripes. There is so much colour with bright red, chartreuse, bold blue,
and orange. I can hardly wait to get back to my paints to start channeling all of this new
inspiration! Until then, I will leave you with some fashion week links and a few of my personal
shots from the week. Have a fantastic weekend!

I am so happy to see colour in stores this fall, and not just red, but amazing citrus colours and
pinks that are usually reserved for Spring and Summer. These colours were the inspiration for
this new piece. This week I’m at LG Fashion Week in Toronto scoping out the Spring 2012 collections.
I’m so excited to see what’s coming next and can’t wait to share some of my favourites. Hope that
you enjoy the new illustration and have a great day!

I hope that you are having a good week back to work and real life after Thanksgiving!
I always find it tough to buckle down and get “serious” after a holiday, but yesterday a
good friend gave me a great tip that’s had me hard at work all day and night. She suggested
working with glitter and now I’m glittering absolutely everything! While I was never big on
glitter as a kid, I am an avid admirer of Martha Stewart and she is, as you may know, the
Queen of glitter. There are many more paintings to come!
So what do you think, do you love glitter as much as I do? Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

I hope that you had a fantastic long weekend. My weekend was pretty great because my brother
Michael got married. I love my new sister-in-law and they had a really gorgeous wedding. I can’t
wait to show you of the paper details that I created for their big day. But first, here is some
wedding work that I created for another set of fabulous clients.

Morgan and Derek approached me looking for a unique invitation that combined traditional
elements in a modern suite. Along with the Directions card and RSVP, the couple had chosen
a lovely quotation to include on the invitation. To accommodate this, I created a custom
invitation design that had a separate space for the quotation and also served as a container
for the additional pieces. Details from the script of the monogram were used to create unity
throughout the suite.
Because Morgan decided to take Derek’s name, I created two monograms for the couple, one
with both of their surnames that was used before the ceremony and another based on the
same design that was used at the reception and for their Thank You cards.

My friend Ashley recently threw a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party for her daughter’s second birthday.
I was thrilled when she asked me to create some invitations to fit the theme. Take a look to
see some of the process work and the finished invitations.

Inspiration for the Invitation: 1 Original illustrations by John Tenniel. The line work in his
drawings inspired the pencil sketch style that was used for Lucy’s invitations. 2 Arthur
Rackman’s muted palette and darker depiction of Alice. 3 The colour palette for the
invitation. 4 Floral patterns like the designs on these teacups, were incorporated onto
the teapot, dress and number two.

I love the play on scale in Alice in Wonderland, so the invitation is teeny-tiny. The
card itself is just 3 x 5 inches. The process of opening the card was designed to be fun
and was accomplished by creating three separate illustrated pages that open to reveal
the invitation itself.
5 The first page leads you down the rabbit hole, with the caption “Don’t be late for this
very important date.” 6The second page shows the tea party and says “Today’s the
Day that Lu turns two”. 7 The final inside page reveals the content and details about the party.

I am very excited to announce that my artwork is now on display at Dwell Boutique in Kingston.
Dwell recently underwent a major renovation when the store was flooded just after Christmas.
The newly renovated space is really beautiful with great wooden shelving units and an open concept.
I was really thrilled to have my art included in its debut. Here are some of the pieces that are
included in the show.
The work will be up until the end of the month. Dwell Boutique is located at 207 Wellington Street
in downtown Kingston.
